Jay T. Young
Jay T. Young is vice president of market analysis and development at Trinity Rail, the largest business unit of Trinity Industries, a diversified industrial manufacturing company based in Dallas. He joined Trinity Industries in 2012 as executive director of corporate strategic planning.
Prior to joining Trinity, he was an executive principal at Accenture (2010-2012), where he led a global team of 30 professionals who provided tactical intelligence on key competitors for major deals worldwide.
At Perot Systems / Dell Services (2001-2010), he helped establish and grow several key functions, including the company’s first corporate-level market and competitive analysis capability that supported new-market entry, global delivery expansion, and mergers and acquisition activities.
Prior to joining Perot Systems, Young held a variety of positions in business and government.
He is also a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve; he has served in a variety of leadership positions with units supporting U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Southern Command, U.S. Atlantic Command, and U.S. Seventh Fleet. He is currently assigned to a reserve unit based in D.C. and has commanded two other reserve units. He was recalled to active duty shortly after 9/11 and served on the staff of U.S. Seventh Fleet.
Young is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (New York) and the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations.
He holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. from King’s College London. He is a Ph.D. candidate at Ohio State.
